Fukuoka University Office for a Sustainable Future

The Office for a Sustainable Future is the strategic center for environmental education and research The framework of the Office for a Sustainable Future was announced on the Web in May 2005. After implementing several pilot programs, the office was officially approved as an institute under Fukuoka University in 2007.


The Office for a Sustainable Future will be closed on April 1, 2016.
We deeply appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Our Mission

We are committed to distributing environment-related intellectual properties of Fukuoka University and informing people of the importance of promoting the harmony between environmental issues and the development. Through the following actions, we aim to establish collaboration among the Yellow Sea-rim countries, and create an intellectual network beyond the Silk Road and the Pacific Ocean.
Research and development to realize a sustainable society
Cultivation of human resources through the promotion of environmental education
Stimulation of eco-business
Reinforcement of international cooperation and local cooperation

Progams rwe implemented

Adopted as one of the Junior Science programs which were hosted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology

Supervised a class for the interclass research competition in an industrial high school. From 2010, supporting the “Super Science High School” Global Programs of Jonan High School. The theme was commercialization of a photocatalytic water purification system

Conducted Eco-Program 2007-2010 and co-hosted with University of Washington and 2008-2009 University of British Columbia. An investigation on sustainable development in the USA and the northwestern region of Canada was conducted.
